About MMD

About MMD Consulting

We exist to make professional Facilities Management genuinely accessible to the organisations that have always needed it most — and been priced out of it.

Our story

Why MMD exists

Professional Facilities Management has, for decades, been the preserve of large organisations — hospitals, universities, corporate estates and major public bodies — with the budgets to sustain it. The frameworks, expertise and systems that protect buildings, keep people safe and prevent costly reactive crises have simply not been available at the scale that schools, charities and community buildings operate at. These organisations have carried the same statutory compliance responsibilities as far larger counterparts, but without anything close to the professional support they need to meet them.

Schools managing ageing buildings with a part-time caretaker, community charities responsible for occupied premises they barely have the budget to heat — these organisations have been left to navigate legionella assessments, electrical inspection cycles, fire safety obligations and asbestos management without any dedicated expertise behind them. MMD was built specifically to close that gap. Not as an afterthought or a niche add-on to a larger FM operation — as the entire purpose of the business.

MMD is not a large FM contractor that has turned its attention to schools as a side market. It is a specialist consultancy built from the ground up for this sector, with pricing, services and a team chosen specifically for the needs of schools, charities and community organisations. Every element of what MMD offers — the way it is structured, how it is priced, the expertise it brings — has been designed around what these organisations actually need.

Our mission

Our mission

"To make professional Facilities Management expertise genuinely accessible to every school, charity and community organisation that needs it — regardless of size or budget."

This means transparent pricing, no long-term lock-in, reports and documentation that belong entirely to the client, and a commitment to building the client's own capability rather than creating dependency on MMD. The goal is always to leave an organisation stronger, safer and more confident in managing its own building — with MMD as the professional support behind it.

How we work

How we work

Transparent by default

Fixed prices published openly. No hidden costs, no surprise charges, no vague 'contact us for pricing' on services that have clear costs. If you can see what something costs, you can make a proper decision about whether it is right for your organisation.

Capability over dependency

MMD's FM Coach service exists specifically to make your in-house team better — not to replace them or make you dependent on external support. The goal is always to leave your organisation stronger than we found it, with genuine skills and systems that stay with you.

Your work is yours

Every report, assessment, document and certificate MMD produces belongs to your organisation entirely. No conditions, no lock-in, no restrictions on how you use what you have paid for. You commission it, you own it — full stop.

Accessible expertise

Three specialist consultants with qualifications and experience that most organisations could not access at any price point — made available at a price that works for a primary school budget. The expertise should not be contingent on the size of the organisation that needs it.

The team

Our team

MMD brings together three specialist consultants whose combined expertise spans the full breadth of Facilities Management — electrical engineering, statutory compliance across the most demanding regulated environments, and strategic FM leadership at global director level.

Daniel founded MMD to apply enterprise-level FM thinking to the sector that needs it most — schools and community organisations that carry the same responsibilities as large estates but have never had the professional support to match.

As Engineering Manager at the University of Surrey, Daniel managed a directly employed maintenance team of up to 30 personnel, held a £2 million operational budget, ran CAFM systems, oversaw PPM and reactive works and managed statutory compliance across a major university estate. This operational background — understanding what it takes to run a building properly from the inside — informs everything MMD delivers.

As Director of IVR Electrical, Daniel led complex electrical contracting projects for clients including Microsoft, Booking.com, Hitachi, the UK Supreme Court and multiple educational establishments. As Critical FM Operations Manager at JLL, he operated within a data centre and critical FM environment, managing PPMs, directly employed operatives and specialist contractor networks to the highest standards of building reliability.

Daniel's City and Guilds 2391 qualification means he can independently inspect, test and certify electrical installations — a capability most FM consultants do not possess, and one that brings a different quality of electrical oversight to every client engagement.

Statutory risk management
Statutory compliance Risk management Nuclear and high-security Educational compliance Data centre FM

MMD's Compliance Specialist brings a depth of statutory compliance knowledge that is extraordinarily rare anywhere in the Facilities Management sector — qualified to the highest compliance levels across some of the most demanding regulated environments in the UK.

With experience spanning nuclear sites, high-security government facilities, educational establishments and critical data centres, this is not general compliance knowledge applied to different settings. It is the genuine article — the kind of expertise developed over years of working where the consequences of getting compliance wrong are the most serious imaginable.

Every compliance obligation MMD manages for clients — electrical testing cycles, fire safety documentation, water hygiene programmes, asbestos management — is backstopped by this level of specialist knowledge. Schools and charities working with MMD are supported by a compliance framework that would not be out of place in a nuclear facility.

Mechanical Engineering Specialist
Senior Mechanical Consultant, Mechanical Engineering and Strategic FM Lead
Qualifications
BEng Mechanical Engineering
30+ years FM experience
Global FM director level
Mechanical engineering Strategic FM International portfolios FM leadership HVAC and M&E

MMD's Mechanical Engineering Specialist brings something genuinely unusual to a consultancy serving schools and charities: university-qualified mechanical engineering expertise combined with strategic FM leadership at global director level.

With over 30 years of Facilities Management experience, this consultant has operated at the highest executive level for multi-billion pound organisations, leading FM strategy and delivery across international portfolios. The breadth of mechanical engineering knowledge — across heating, ventilation, HVAC, plumbing and building fabric — and the strategic FM thinking this brings to MMD's clients is unmatched at this price point.

A school's boiler plant, ventilation system or ageing building services infrastructure presents no challenge that has not been encountered — and resolved — at far greater scale and complexity. MMD's clients benefit from that experience applied directly to their own buildings.
